Extension Sets
Microbore Sets have a smaller interior diameter which makes the priming volume about 50% lower, compared to the Mini-sets. (36" Microbore Set will have a priming volume of around 35mL compared to a Mini-set of 66mL) Low Volume Microbore or Minibore Sets are about 20% lower than the normal Microbore or Minibore.
Microbore Sets interior diameter is about 10x smaller to the Standardbore Sets. (36" Microbore Set will have a priming volume of around 3.5mL compared to a Standardbore Sets priming volume of 35mL)
Extension Sets are used close to the patients IV site. They can come in numerous configurations. They are usually between 3"- 55" in length.
They can either be:
- One piece of tubing
- Bifurcated- forked or divided into two parts
- Trifucated- divided into three parts
